Pan Con Tomate: Still Life

When we were in Barcelona and sat down for tapas, my friend Cheryl's favorite thing to order was pan con tomate.  Always, it was incredibly delicious: toasted bread, tomatoes, garlic.

This particular dish was part of our morning tapas/breakfast at the Hotel Abat Cisneros atop at Montserrat, Spain.  It was a buffet where you toasted your own slice of fresh bread, rubbed the tomatoes across the grain of the bread and squished a clove or two of garlic until the juice drizzled on your pan con tomate exactly to your liking.  Gosh, am I hungry now.

Mixed media (acrylic then oils), 8"x8", available at my DailyPaintworks site
